The Cassettes– a four or five-piece Choose Your Own Adventure Mystic Country Steampunk Stomp band from Washington, D.C. started by Frodus frontman Shelby Cinca as a solace from his post-punk screaming endeavors. Ballooned from a lineup that originally contained members of Dead Meadow to a group of modern day vagabonds and dreamers consisting of multi-instrumentalists that play theremins, steel guitars, accordions, analog synthesizers, tablas and much more. Also known as a Musical Explorers Society, The Cassettes (a registered trademark), dare to push standard musical structures while maintaining a respectful tip o' the hat to the visionaries of the past. Courage.

Shelby Cinca: Guitars & Vocals, Stephen Guidry: Banjo & Accordion & Moog & Vocals, Saadat Awan: Drums & Tablas & Vocals, Arthur Harrison: Theremin & Vocals, Nick Kraly: Bass & Vocals & Projections, Christina Frances: Vocals, Dr. Klem: Contrabass & Chimes.

CURRENT MOON

  1. Photo post

The Cassettes’ very own Chapeau Records presents the solo debut of our bassist, Nick Story… the story below:
Amateur Taxidermy was recorded during a year of turmoil, travel and change. Many of the songs were written by Nick in Brooklyn, NYC and while spending the winter in Lacoste, France. Amateur Taxidermy was finished in Washington DC, after Nick was forced into heavy opiate use by a broken jaw. The amateur taxidermy is over, and professionals are now being called in to put Nick back together. Nick can also be found as the bassist/projectionist for The Cassettes and other soon to be announced musical explorations.
